Reflection-
What will you do with this project next?
In the future, I plan to make this project my everyday. The passion project was super beneficial for me and it really completed the school year. I had the chance to do what I love inside of school and for school for three weeks, and that is an opportunity I feel I wouldn't be offered in most schools country wide. This project benefited me on levels of practice, preparation, and knowledge. Building a portfolio and website exposed me to advertising and a professional way to display different forms of art. In sixth grade when I bought my first DJ controller, never did I think I would be starting a business with music; Especially a media and recording arts business. When I used my first DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), never did I think I would have kids from all over town asking me to make them beats and release their music. Everything from here is all decision and hard work. I am so ambitious to be heard and share my sound, and I haven’t even found my true sound yet. One day while I am in the studio working with A$ap Mob or Turnover or anyone else no matter how large of an artist they are, I genuinely just want to look back on my sophomore year when it all fell together and be proud and happy.
What part of this project are you proudest of, and why?
I am proudest of how much work I did on Logic. I started using Logic as my primary DAW about two months ago and am already fully comfortable on it and am very sufficient in the program. During the passion project I was able to spend time on Logic finishing a few mixes, recording some ideas, recording some of my bands music, and finishing a full track, which takes a lot of time. I learned a few more things you can do with the Logic sampler and with Logic’s amps/ pedals. Hip Hop has recently turned to Logic and many big producers also have switched to Logic. This practice and time spent working on my music betters my skills and prepares me for everything after high school everytime it occurs. Otherwise I am proud of how my website came together and how many compliments I was given at exhibition on my website and music. The passion project was an opportunity to advertise and express myself as a musician and producer, and I couldn’t have done that anywhere else.
Does this piece tell a story?
My final piece told a story including elements of inspiration, euphoria, and passion. I am not saying my music told that story to anyone, as that is the story it told me. Every piece of art tells a different story and holds a capacity of something inside someone. Every piece of art’s story fluctuates upon each individual depending on anything, and every piece of art holds a capacity of something inside people individually that last forever whether it’s positive, negative, life changing, or boring. For me, this piece of music told a story of my emotion and inspiration while holding a euphoric sensation derived from the bounce and low frequency synth inside the track. Each frequency, note, beat, melody, chord structure, key, etc., strikes me on a level that nothing else does. It is just natural for me, which I suppose is… Passion.
